Is a non-surgical rhinoplasty surgery, commonly called a non-surgical nose job, right for you? Read on to learn more, or visit our Contact Page to schedule a consultation.
Carolina Facial Plastics is pleased to provide patients with non-surgical nasal reshaping, also known as a non-invasive rhinoplasty or a rhinoplasty without surgery. During this type of procedure, Dr. Kulbersh uses dermal fillers to reshape the nose for patients wishing to make changes in its appearance. Though the procedure is much different from that of a surgical rhinoplasty, the goal of a non surgical nose job remains the same: to make the nose appear more symmetrical and in harmony with the rest of the face.
As a Beverly Hills trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Kulbersh uses this technique to instantly improve the shape of the nose by filling in depressions, smoothing out sharp angles, augmenting the dorsum, or changing the angle of the tip of the nose. Dermal fillers, such as Restylane or Perlane, are the preferred choice of fillers.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Non-Surgical Nose Job?
While a non-surgical procedure cannot reduce the size of a nose, it can help create symmetry or smooth out contour irregularities. Additionally, a non surgical nose job can provide a non-invasive alternative for patients who are dissatisfied with the results of their previous rhinoplasty or revision procedures.
More specifically, a non-surgical treatment can be useful to:
- Reduce the appearance of a “bump”
- Augment a flat dorsum
- Reduce or eliminate unsightly depressions, dents, or grooves
- Improve symmetry
- Create a lifting effect on a drooping nasal tip
- Raise and define a flat bridge or de-emphasize a rounded tip (popular in Asian and African-American populations)
- Correct a “scooped out” or “saddle-nose” profile

Who is Not a Good Candidate for a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Patients with thin nasal skin are not good candidates for a non-surgical, or liquid, rhinoplasty. It places the nose at increased risk for a complication or the filler becoming visible. If the nasal skin is compromised in any fashion, Dr. Kulbersh will wait until it has healed before moving forward with a treatment.
How Long Does It Take To Undergo a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
The liquid rhinoplasty procedure takes usually takes just 10 – 30 minutes! Dr. Kulbersh will see non-surgical patients two weeks following the procedure and if more augmentation or refinement is needed, it will be completed at that time.
Types of Dermal Fillers Used
At Carolina Facial Plastics in Charlotte, Dr. Kulbersh generally uses Restylane to perform a non surgical nose job, which is composed of hyaluronic acid in a clear gel form. The substance is safe, non-allergenic, completely degradable, and found naturally in your own body.
Depending on a variety of individual factors, treatment generally last for 6-9 months. However, you can safely repeat your treatment as often as needed to upkeep your results and facial harmony.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty FAQs
Q: What kinds of nasal issues can a non-surgical rhinoplasty fix?
A: The main use of injectable fillers in the nose is to camouflage the profile (dorsal) hump by either filling below and/or above the hump or to augment a flat nose. In patients with ethnic noses, it can be a great tool to help define their nasal bridge. For patients with a hump, filling around the hump will give the illusion that the nose and hump is smaller. A non-surgical nose job is also great for smoothing out nasal imperfections like dents, and for fixing minor symmetry problems. If a patient has had too much of their nasal dorsum taken down during a previous surgical rhinoplasty, it can also be an excellent tool to smooth out any small irregularities in the early months after a surgery.
Q: Am I a candidate for a non-surgical rhinoplasty with fillers?
A: To determine whether you are a good candidate for a treatment with fillers, schedule a consultation at the Charlotte office. Dr. Kulbersh will then examine and use imaging to determine if the problem area can be treated with injectables.
Q: Is this procedure going to impact my breathing?
A: The procedure will not negatively affect breathing since the injections are superficial and will not change the nasal cavity. If you currently have breathing problems, you may be an ideal candidate for septoplasty surgery which can be discussed during a consultation.
Q: Are the injections going to hurt?
A: This is not a very painful procedure, although everyone’s pain tolerance is different. The tip of the nose, the nostrils and the columnella are tender areas to inject. However, Dr. Kulbers has many methods of pain control including the use of a blunt tip cannula (needleless injection technique), designed to cause much less damage to the tissue of the skin as opposed to a needle injection.
